East students and NTV collaborated to create a documentary for the retired Craighead County Jail, which is soon to be turned into court rooms. Teachers Sandra Taylor and Craig Miller led a group of student in this film.
Three photographers, Ramsey Crum, Abby Gage, and Acelen Hart were there from the EAST program. Jacob Lenderman, Colby Miller, Hutch Bristow, Bradyn Blocker, Semaj Williams, Allie Blocker, Brandon Troutman, and George Sweat filmed the documentary. These specific people were involved because of their experience with filming and photography.
I had a chance to talk to Bradyn Blocker, who was part of the film crew. Bradyn stated that his favorite part of the project was “Hearing all the stories of the people that have worked there in the past.” Hutch Bristow added that his favorite part was “filming on site of the jail.”
Dale Miller, Rick Thomas, Jack McCann, and Rusty Grigsby were interviewed on their former jobs at the jail. They explained on their former day-to-day procedures, as well as how life was at the jail for the prisoners.
The documentary was filmed on October 5th, and should be available closer to December. It’s unclear where it will be available to watch, but that information will released closer to December.
